Inn Crowd: Live Performances in Dorset Pubs!

Tue 22 Oct 2019

Artsreach is delighted to partner up on an exciting new three-year project called the Inn Crowd, an initiative first started by Applause Rural Touring, Creative Arts East, the National Centre for Writing and Pub is the Hub in 2016.

The project involves touring exciting and inspiring spoken-word, poetry and storytelling performances to rural pubs across England, reaching and engaging with non-traditional arts audiences. The aim of the project is to support landlords to attract new customers, widening the experience for their regular punters, and reinforcing the pub as a central, vibrant part of community life. The project also supports some of the UK’s best spoken-word artists to create, develop and tour their work to new areas.

Dawn Badland, Director of Applause Rural Touring said, “Arts Council England’s support to enable us to further develop Inn Crowd as a national model will be very welcome across the rural touring sector as a whole and shows their recognition of this ambitious and unique partnership programme.”

Artsreach’s first Inn Crowd performance taking place this Autumn is ‘Down The Pub with Luke Wright’, which will take place at the Red Lion Inn in Sturminster Newton this Sunday 27 October at 4pm. Audiences are encouraged to pre-book a table if they wish to dine at the pub after the show, and food will be served from 6pm. Then on Thursday 7 November at 8pm Jemima Foxtrot presents ‘Kiss Me, Help! I Hate You!’ at the Oak at Dewlish. Again audiences can dine at the Oak before the show, with food served from 6-9pm. Both performances are free with donations gratefully received by Artsreach on the night!
