An Exciting Half Term for Families!

Wed 11 Oct 2017

With half-term fast approaching, two professional children’s theatre companies are set to make their debut in Dorset with Artsreach, the counties touring arts charity. With seven live performances in seven different villages, what better way to keep children entertained during the school holidays?!

'The Wind in the Willows' by Box Tale Soup

From the peaceful pleasures of Ratty's beloved River Bank, to the fearful frights and wicked weasels of the Wild Wood, join Ratty and Mole on their marvellous adventures, along with gruff old Badger and magnificent Mr Toad. Kent based Box Tale Soup present a beautiful new adaptation of Kenneth Grahame's much loved classic, ‘The Wind in the Willows’, featuring unique handmade fabric puppets and a charming original score. See this delightful show in Corfe Castle and Martinstown on Monday 23 October, and in Durweston and Chetnole on Tuesday 24 October.

'Shackleton' by Tall Tree Theatre

Meanwhile, Hampshire based Tall Tree Theatre bring the heart-warming tale of a man and his beloved dog to life. Mr Middle has created a life of routine for himself and his loyal dog Shackleton. Together they enjoy their evenings in and simple walks, but Shackleton longs for more adventure. Not one for surprises, Mr Middle keeps his world as small as possible but one day the garden gate is accidentally left ajar, which offers Shackleton the chance to look beyond what he has always known. As he follows his senses and goes exploring, his trepidacious owner is forced on an exciting journey of his own where he must rediscover his adventurous past and break his routine to find his beloved dog. Combining compelling storytelling, live music and puppetry, join Tall Tree for a tale about stepping out of your comfort zone and saying yes to adventure! Shackleton will be appearing in Cerne Abbas and Bourton on the 25 October, and Sixpenny Handley on the 26 October.
