A Fun-Filled Summer of Children’s Activities

Children from all over Dorset enjoyed our Artsreach Summer Activities during the school holidays.
Every summer we run an exciting programme of affordable and accessible creative arts workshops for children. We offer activities to suit all interests, from woodwork to storytelling and song writing to puppet making. The sessions provide a great opportunity for children to get creative, learn a new skill and make friends in a safe, friendly environment.
As always, the workshops took place across the county in rural venues as dispersed as Charmouth, Sixpenny Handley and Swanage. Each session was aimed at different age groups - ranging from 2-12 years - to ensure there was something for everyone.
This year we welcomed some old favourites such as Dorset Forest Schools with their Native American Tribe and Fantastic Minibeasts outdoor adventure days, as well as Darrell Wakelam with his crafty collage activities. Squashbox Theatre’s Craig Johnson returned to Dorset to perform his sell-out family puppet show Tales From The Trees, where children had the opportunity to participate in his puppet-making workshop after the show. We also welcomed some new workshop leaders including local boat builder Gail McGarva with her magical StoryBoat, and Abigail Thommes with her Graffiti workshops and Songwriting session.
Needless to say we had some very happy children and families. Here are some of the lovely comments we received:
