Spindle Ensemble

This event has now finished

Contemporary Chamber Quartet Spindle tour to intimate venues across the UK to celebrate the release of their second album 'Inkling'.

Spindle Ensemble's music sits somewhere between classical and contemporary, always melodic and instantly recognisable by their unique instrumentation for a chamber quartet; piano, Celtic harp, accordion, violin, marimba, vibraphone and cello.

The quartet was formed in 2016 by bandleader and composer Daniel Inzani, accompanied by a versatile classically trained musicians who also perform a huge variety of other styles including performing with Charles Hazelwood’s Paraorchestra, Bristol Symphony Orchestra, Mesadorm and many more.

Equally at home performing in concert Halls such as the Union Chapel, Southbank Centre and St George’s Bristol to churches, art centres, and community venues across the UK, Spindle Ensemble continue to bring their music to a diverse and ever-growing audience.

The quartet recorded Inkling at various venues across Bristol, capturing their performances as unique 3D sound images enabling the listener to hear each instrument's position mimicking the audible experience as a live audience member. Expect to hear influences from composers such as Satie, Pärt, Ravel, Reich, Glass and Moondog in their music but also the soundtracks of Morricone and the minimalist aesthetics of the Penguin Cafe Orchestra.

“Beautiful sounds, definitely a band to watch…”

Fiona Talkington, BBC Radio 3 Late Junction

"Philip Glass-style minimalism, Morricone-esque exotica, Japanese-inflected C&W and Satie-ish romanticism."

An Update on Attending Rural Touring Events by Artsreach

Our community volunteers, audiences, funders and sponsors have been simply fantastic during these difficult times, and we thank everyone for their support and encouragement as we resume our indoor programme of live performances this winter.

We want to let you know that your comfort and safety continue to be our top priority, as well as your enjoyment of course. As such, we have created a simple information document about our indoor events and venues, which we will monitor and update throughout the season as required. Read our latest information document here
