1959: The Golden Year of Jazz

Neil Maya QuartetThis event has now finished

The band that offers the sounds of the cool jazz movement of the 50s and 60s and tells a story exploring a rich emotional landscape

The Neil Maya Quartet is one of the South West's most exciting and talented bands, whose aim is to find fresh, new sounds within the wide scope of jazz whilst staying accessible to everyone. The quartet's music is crisp, colourful, sassy, smooth, atmospheric, intricate, cool, very imaginative and always highly entertaining!

1959 is often considered an extremely influential year in the development of modern jazz, spawning some of the genre's finest albums of all times including Miles Davis' Kind of Blue and Dave Brubeck's Time Out. This project brings to life some of the best and most famous modern jazz recordings ever made.

"Neil Maya once again turns his impeccable talent to reinterpreting the music of 1959"

An Update on Attending Rural Touring Events by Artsreach

Our community volunteers, audiences, funders and sponsors have been simply fantastic during these difficult times, and we thank everyone for their support and encouragement as we resume our indoor programme of live performances this winter.

We want to let you know that your comfort and safety continue to be our top priority, as well as your enjoyment of course. As such, we have created a simple information document about our indoor events and venues, which we will monitor and update throughout the season as required. Read our latest information document here
